In Hebrews 3:7–19, we are confronted with a sobering question: What does your résumé of faith truly say? Not the résumé of accomplishments, titles, or accolades, but the ledger of your heart before God. The writer warns us through Israel’s wilderness journey — a people who witnessed miracles, provision, and deliverance, yet whose hearts hardened in unbelief. They heard God’s voice, saw His power, and yet doubted. Familiarity without faith led to rebellion, and the promise of the land became graves scattered across the desert. Their story serves as a cautionary tale: proximity to God does not guarantee trust in God.

True faith is active and present. It listens when God speaks, obeys when His call demands sacrifice, and rests fully in Christ when circumstances are uncertain. Faith is not measured by achievements, spiritual experiences, or moral diligence; it is measured by trust — the simple, unwavering confidence that Christ alone is sufficient. The question before us is not what we have done for God, but whether we are still clinging to Him today, moment by moment.

Your résumé of faith, therefore, should read clearly and simply: “By faith in Christ alone.” It is faith that perseveres in the face of doubt, obeys in the midst of difficulty, and rests in God when all else fails. May our hearts be continually examined, our trust continually renewed, and our lives continually anchored in the One whose faithfulness never wavers.
