Matthew 17:1-13
Every follower of Christ encounters moments that leave an indelible mark on the soul—times when heaven touches earth and faith ignites like fire. On a quiet mountain, three disciples witnessed such a moment: Jesus was transfigured before them, His face radiant, His garments shining with unearthly light. In that moment, the veil lifted, and the glory of God in Christ was revealed, offering a glimpse of the eternal majesty that awaits those who walk in His ways.
Moses and Elijah appeared, representing the Law and the Prophets, speaking with Jesus about the coming path of suffering and resurrection that would redeem humanity. Then a voice from heaven declared, “This is My beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased. Listen to Him.” This divine affirmation called the disciples—and calls us today—to pay attention, to trust, and to obey. The transfiguration was not just a vision; it was a revelation of who Jesus truly is: the eternal Son, worthy of worship, surrender, and unwavering faith.
Like Peter, James, and John, we too need these moments of clarity—“flash points” that awaken our hearts and remind us of God’s glory. They point us toward both the cost of following Christ and the eternal reward that awaits. How might you recognize the moments when God is revealing Himself in your life? Are your eyes and heart open to the light that transforms from within, guiding every step of your journey?
