Revelation 2:1-7
This message calls the heart back to its first love—the Savior Himself. In Ephesus, a city once vibrant and influential, a church thrived with faithful service, solid teaching, and endurance. Yet even amid remarkable works, the gentle words of Christ pierce the soul: the first love has been left behind. It’s a reminder that busyness, routine, and even ministry can quietly distance us from the passion that once ignited our hearts.
Just as the harbor of Ephesus filled with silt, preventing ships from docking, our hearts can become clogged with the cares of life. Yet the Lord walks among His people still, inviting us to remember, repent, and return. The awe, gratitude, and wonder that once stirred us can be rekindled by drawing near once more to the One who first loved us. True devotion is measured not by our accomplishments, but by the depth of our love and the sincerity of our pursuit of Him.
Reflecting on this ancient call challenges us today: Are our hearts fully alive with passion for Christ, or have routines and responsibilities dulled our devotion? This message is a gracious invitation to restore intimacy, rekindle wonder, and embrace worship that flows from love rather than obligation. The way back is clear, and the Savior’s call remains: remember, repent, and let your first love shine anew.
