John 17:6-10
In this intimate moment of Scripture, Jesus prays for those the Father has entrusted to Him. He looks at His disciples — ordinary men, flawed, fearful, and soon to fail — and calls them a gift. The miracle lies not in their actions, but in who they are: vessels chosen by God, given to the Son, and filled with His presence. These ordinary men, weak and uncertain, are transformed by God’s grace into instruments of His extraordinary plan.
Jesus declares, “Thine they were, and Thou gavest them Me.” Before they knew Him, they belonged to the Father; before they believed, they were already loved. The same is true for all believers today. We are the miracle — the gift of the Father to the Son. Every heart drawn to faith testifies to God’s eternal plan of love. He pursues, chooses, and cherishes us, revealing His power in what the world may see as folly.
The true miracle is not that we found Him, but that He found us. God saw our brokenness and still claimed us as His own. We are the jars He fills, the vessels He uses, the treasures He holds dear. The miracle is the gift — and that gift is you. How does knowing you were chosen and loved before you believed change the way you live today?
