Genesis 2:18-25
In one of Scripture’s most beautiful moments, God recognized that it was not good for man to be alone. Out of love and divine wisdom, He created a companion for Adam — a helper who would complement, strengthen, and complete him. Eve was formed from Adam’s side, near his heart, symbolizing a relationship built on love, respect, and unity, not domination or subservience. Together, they reflected the harmony and beauty of God’s original design.
This passage unveils the heart of God’s plan for marriage: equality in worth, distinct roles, and shared purpose. Adam and Eve were meant to walk side by side in worship, service, and life, embodying the divine image through their union. From this relationship, God established the foundation for family and community — a bond of trust, love, and purity that mirrors His fellowship with His people.
Marriage is not a human invention but a sacred covenant designed for blessing and glory. Though sin has distorted its perfection, God’s design endures, offering restoration through Christ. Every broken heart and weary marriage can find renewal in Him, the ultimate Bridegroom who redeems and restores. How might we honor God’s intention for unity and love in our own relationships, reflecting the harmony He created from the very beginning?
