Luke 17:26-37
When Jesus returns, it will come as a surprise to the world. Life will seem ordinary—people eating, drinking, working, marrying—but judgment will fall suddenly, just as it did in the days of Noah and Lot. “Where the vultures gather,” He warned, “there the body will be.” These sobering words remind us that spiritual decay attracts divine justice, exposing the hearts of all humanity and separating the faithful from the faithless, the surrendered from the self-serving.
Though the world mocks the promise of His coming, history and Scripture assure us that Christ will return. Evil may flourish, and hearts may grow cold, but His people continue to wait—watching, praying, and longing for the day when the sky will blaze with His glory. This is not metaphor or myth; it is the reality that all creation will face. When that moment arrives, the King of Kings will appear, and the judgment of the world will be unmistakable.
Yet within this sobering truth lies hope: those who belong to Christ will rise to everlasting life, forever secure in His kingdom. The call is urgent—let go of the fleeting comforts of this world and cling to the Savior who alone preserves life. When He returns, there will be no second chance. How might you live today in light of the coming Kingdom?
