Luke 15:1-10
Jesus reveals what truly delights the heart of God—the salvation of a single lost soul. While the Pharisees and scribes murmured at His association with sinners, He spoke parables that pierced pride and exposed indifference. They thought they represented God, yet they lacked His compassion for the wandering and broken. In contrast, Jesus, the Good Shepherd, pursues the lost relentlessly, leaving the comfortable and familiar behind to seek those who have gone astray.
We were that lost sheep—wandering, wounded, and incapable of restoring ourselves. Human effort could not cleanse our hearts, but divine grace prevailed. The Shepherd carried us, bearing the weight of our sin, until we were found. Heaven rejoiced—not for our merit, but for the mercy that rescued us. Likewise, the story of the woman searching for her lost silver coin shows God’s unwavering pursuit. He illuminates the dark corners of our hearts, seeking those who will turn, repent, and believe, celebrating when even one is restored.
The joy of heaven is not in the self-righteous, but in the humble sinner who turns to Christ. Angels celebrate, and the heart of God exults, over every repentant soul. This passage challenges us to reflect personally: Is God rejoicing over you today, seeing the evidence of His mercy and the work of His grace in your life?
