John 17:1-5
In this sacred moment, we witness the Son of God lifting His eyes to heaven, praying with divine confidence as the hour of redemption approaches. Every act of mercy, every fulfilled prophecy, every heartbeat of history had been leading to this hour — the culmination of God’s plan to offer salvation through the perfect, sinless sacrifice of Jesus. His prayer reveals not desperation, but divine purpose and unwavering obedience.
Jesus speaks directly to the Father, unfolding the eternal plan of love that existed before time began. He highlights the gift of eternal life, defined not as mere existence but as knowing God intimately — a relationship with the One who first loved us. Eternal life begins the moment we come to know Him, grounded in His grace rather than our performance, sustained by His love rather than our perfection.
As He anticipates the suffering of the cross, Jesus prays for glory — not for triumph, but for the opportunity to honor the Father through surrender. True glory is found in obedience, in the cross, and in a life fully devoted to God. This prayer calls us to reflect His purpose in our own lives: to glorify God through our words, choices, and actions. How are we living today to honor the One who gave everything for our redemption?
